Inspirations & AV With Aliya

Growing up, one of my biggest inspirations was Tyler Perry. His life story, from facing adversity to becoming the powerhouse he is today, has always motivated me. Perry’s journey wasn't an easy one, he endured homelessness, financial struggles, and personal setbacks, yet he never let those obstacles define him. Instead, he used them as fuel to propel himself forward. His impact on African American culture is undeniable, not only through his iconic character Madea but also through his ability to create a platform for diverse voices in the entertainment industry. His creative mind, especially in his earlier work, has always been a source of inspiration for me. I’d often tell people that I wanted to be the next female Tyler Perry.

Since those days, I’ve made it a point to immerse myself in the world of TV, film, and streaming to better understand the industry. I’ve taken every opportunity to learn and grow, and it has led me to explore directing and producing in several different settings. From directing and producing live streams for church events to working in mass communication classes and helping out with my university’s athletics department, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience in live production and media.

Each of these experiences has strengthened my passion for directing and storytelling, and I’m grateful for the skills I’ve developed along the way. Tyler Perry's work continues to motivate me, and the opportunities I’ve pursued have helped me take steps toward a career where I can make a similar impact, telling stories that matter and creating platforms for voices that deserve to be heard.

As I continue to grow in this field, I remain committed to my goal of building a creative career that blends the lessons I've learned from Perry’s legacy with my own unique vision. From live streams to film sets, I’m determined to follow my passion for storytelling and use my experiences to create work that inspires others, just as Tyler Perry’s work has inspired me.
